About Us

We are a group of Transition Year students who feel passionately for the environment, and have activated a campaign for the 'One Good Idea' Competition. We feel, that by introducing art into environmental studies, much can be gained with regards to teenagers' understanding of this important topic...

Clara:

I'm very interested in music and I feel that the creativity that comes with playing instruments will be beneficial for our campaign. I think that it's very important that awareness is raised among teenagers about global warming and the ways they impact the environment both negatively and positively in their daily lives. I believe this is a very important issue that has the potential to spark a huge interest in teenagers.

Maria:

I've always been interested in the arts. I feel that applying creavtity to learning about something so intriguing as climate and energy, is a great way to get more teenagers interested in the topic. I love the idea of transforming simple, household items that we normally throw away, into something new and useful. The fact that we are teenagers ourselves also means that we can really connect with our target audience.

Renuka:

I've always had a great passion for art and did art as one of the subjects for my Junior Cert. I remember being really excited to go to art class even if our projects were due soon, because I found it to be a great reliever of stress from the other academic subjects. Then I thought about how if art was incorporated more into learning about the environment, how this would positively alter teenagers' view of subjects such as CPSE, Geography and Science. I knew that it would certainly change mine!

Katia:

Hi! My name is Kateryna as well as being concerned about the impact of our waste on the planet, I love art and hands on creativity.  In our project we get to help reduce the amount of items we throw away and instead transform them into useful and decorative items for your rooms. The ability to give something a new life and purpose really lets me express my creative side while helping the planet.
